BookStitch is a free Windows desktop application developed by irwitzer for creating complete audiobook files from local audio files, MP3/data CDs and audio CDs. Falling within the audio conversion and audiobook production category, the software guides users through the full workflow of importing, reviewing, converting and merging individual tracks into AAC-based M4A or M4B audiobook output, complete with chapters, metadata and clearly defined project states. The application supports both local audio folder imports and optical disc workflows, making it suitable for listeners who want to digitize CD-based audiobooks as well as users consolidating existing audio collections into a single, well-structured file. Conversion is handled through FFmpeg and FFprobe integration, while additional capabilities include project state recovery, track warnings to flag potential issues, metadata handling, and natural-language chapter suggestions with automatic numbering to simplify the structuring of long recordings. An experimental Drive Circle feature extends the CD workflow by allowing the processing of up to five optical drives in sequence, which can be useful when ripping multi-disc audiobook sets. BookStitch operates entirely locally on the user's machine, requires no user account, and is distributed free of charge with no advertising. This combination of local processing, guided track review and automatic chapter generation makes the application relevant for home users archiving physical audiobook collections, as well as anyone seeking to convert scattered audio files into a single chapterized, metadata-rich audiobook.
